From February 25 to 28 it was held in Barcelona the world’s largest mobile technology fair . Phones, tablets and other devices of this type are gaining great importance for the business development of companies in any sector, due to the popularization of the mobile e-commerce both in developed countries and emerging economies. For this reason, in Trazada we wanted to summarize the most important thing that has happened in the Mobile World Congress of this year.
New players in the operating systems market . Until 2012 the smartphone market has been dominated by Apple with the different iPhone models and the Android operating system led by Google. However, this year new alternatives from the world of software have been presented: Firefox OS with the support of Telefónica worldwide and Ubuntu Touch, which aims to bring the most popular Linux distribution to phones and tablets.
Cheaper phones for emerging markets . Putting phones on sale affordable enough so that citizens of less developed countries can have an Internet connection is the goal of companies like Nokia and Vodafone. Both will market smartphone models for less than 25 euros.
High-end phones with quad cores. At the opposite end of low-cost mobiles are those designed for the most advanced users. The new models presented have more processing capacity than the average user’s computer.
Pay by mobile . Perhaps if it is this year in which the payment by mobile phone takes off. At least that is what manufacturers like Samsung think that has presented its own system at this congress, similar to the one that Apple launched a few months ago.
Interconnected objects . Not only phones and tablets have been seen at the fair. Large companies have presented a wide variety of products designed to be connected to the network and related to each other: multimedia centers, televisions, appliances and even walking sticks.
